Hong Kong is one of the most expensive countries in South-East Asia — and it has it's right on it. The living standards and the quality of products and transport is much higher here than in the majority of neighboring countries. Unfortunately this doesn't concern the accommodation — so come prepared to pay twice or even three times more than you would pay for a king size hotel room in Thailand for a room with a size of cupboard in the huge and crowded skyscraper. On the other hand the transport is really cheap — and you can pay as little as 2,5 HKD for a ferry ticket from Kowloon to the Hong Kong island or for the ride in the double decker tram which allows you to see all the island from high above sitting in the front row!

Sri Lanka prices surprised me a lot! The main thing is that prices for locals and for tourists differ badly. All the local prices — be it cost of transportation, food or clothes — are really cheap and cost almost nothing. But if you want a bit more comfort (and in Sri Lanka you will definitely want it — at some point) prices increase dramatically! Tourist transportation, restaurants, hotels and especially entrance tickets to the local sights sometimes are equal to european — with the service not even close to european standards. That said, when going to Sri Lanka you have two choices — take more money with you or get ready to travel the way the locals do.

Prices for tourists in Italy seem to be really inflated. The cost of accommodation, restaurant meals and tourist attractions sometimes appear to be more expensive than in neighboring countries. But considering the sights and attraction this country has to offer you can forgive them everything. And sometimes you are ready to give all your money for a delicious pizza or cappuccino with ice cream!
