Gazi Husrev-Beg Mosque, built in 1532 in the centre of the Old Town, and was gifted to the city of Sarajevo by Ottoman war hero Husrev-beg upon his death. It is the largest mosque in Bosnia and Herzegovina it pays an important part in the country’s Islamic community and is said to be the most monumental mosque of the Ottoman period.
