On November 6, 1889, H.M.S. Amphion, enroute from Victoria to Vancouver in fog, with Lord Stanley, Governor General of Canada and party aboard, struck a reef in Haro Strait off Henry Island. The ship was extremely damaged but returned safely for repairs.
