This canal was started in 1100 AD and was just finished completely in resent times. There are 60 locks that we went through on our Viking cruise. At 1 point the boat went over a highway. Quite the thing to see.The construction of this canal began in 1100 AD and was only recently completed. During our Viking cruise, we passed through 60 locks. At one point, the boat even went over a highway, which was quite a sight to see!
