Information for independent travel to Crailsheim

The lower part of the theft tower is the oldest building in the city. Originally it was probably the keep of an earlier moated castle, later a defense tower and watchtower in front of the city. The 34 meter high building not only had a military function, but also served as a prison in the lower part. The theft tower was provisionally rebuilt after the war was destroyed in 1945 and made accessible again in 1990/91.

The market fountain on the market square with the two market women, Dorle and Paula, dates from 1945 and was created by the artist Fritz Melis.
