Malaysia is a one of the cheapest country to travel in the world. You can't finish Malaysia in 1 trip, basically split into 2. One is West Malaysia, another one is East Malaysia. West Malaysia, you can cover it minimum 5 days, with hopping each city. Kuala Lumpur, Melacca, Genting, Ipoh.
Island you can explore Langkawi/ Redang/ Perhentian and Pangkor. Malaysia food is delicious and most delicious food are not serve in air condition restaurant. Thats the truely Malaysian style. Average a meal are USD5 per head include drink. East Malaysia, you spend 1 trip in Sarawak, 1 trip in Sabah. If you want to combine it, then it will be longer (10 days) covering, Kuching, Miri, Tawau, Kota Kinabalu.

You won’t have to save to eat in Kuala Lumpur. U can get good food at 2usd easily. Don’t try to cook in Kuala Lumpur, because this is a food heaven. You would be spoiled by all the choices. Transport is pretty fair priced too. Don’t bother to rent a car if u r traveling in the city. Just download the app called grab and travel with grab to everywhere within the city. U can save with promo code and reward points you have earn along the way. Just find out how to redeem the points and use it before you leave the city. Accommodation price varies from the selection of your accommodation type. There are a lot of boutique hotel charging from 40usd to 60usd per night if u would like to save from accommodation but also staying at a clean and strategically located place.
